Results for questions from the Birmingham Residents Survey 2016-17, carried out by BMG Research amongst Birmingham residents on behalf of Birmingham City Council (BCC). This follows on from the Birmingham Residents Survey 2015-16.

The survey encompassed 1,200 interviews administered through a face-to-face CAPI methodology, with a target population consisting of Birmingham residents aged 18 or over. The fieldwork period was split into three equally-spaced time intervals, running from mid-October to early January 2017. These are results for all Responses, which include the Don't Know answers.

Net Satisfaction is the total satisfied/agree/positive MINUS total dissatisfied/disagree/negative. This is then divided by the total (which is all the responses EXCEPT for don’t know, so it also includes the middle 'neither')"

Net Satisfaction should be referred to as Net Satisfaction / Agree / Positive

The content of the survey was initially based on questions collected as part of the LGA benchmarking exercise, with additional questions of interest retained from the tracker survey. The topic areas of the questions include: - Perceptions of BCC - The local area - Safety and anti-social behaviour - Community cohesion - Local democracy and decision-making - Additionally, given council financial restrictions, questions were included in 2015/16 to measure how respondents would likely react to future council savings, including reductions in service delivery. The final data were weighted, using post-stratification weights to balance the sample to population projections for Birmingham. Weights used cover respondent gender, age breakdown and ethnicity.
